"On August 30th last year, I watched my Dad pass away after a five year long battle with cancer. This fundraiser means so, so much to me because while I was powerless to help my dad, by participating in and organizing this Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer™, I will be able to make a difference in the lives of others in my Dad’s position. The process of healing has been heavy and filled with grief, but this is an opportunity to honor a loss of life by improving the lives of others. I am determined to put forward my best efforts towards fighting a disease that has stolen the health of so many, and I know my dad would be so proud which is all I could ever ask for.”

“I first became aware of cancer at a young age when I went to visit my great aunt before she passed due to breast cancer and leukemia. The summer before my Junior Year of high school, the effects of cancer became a reality after an ultrasound showed that the lump in my left breast was a complex cyst with debris that required further examination. Fortunately, the cyst was benign. My short-lived anxiety was agonizing, and I am grateful to be healthy. This event has allowed me to combine my 7 year figure skating background with a cause that is very meaningful and dear to my heart. The organizing, fundraising, and raising awareness are all part of something much bigger than me.”
