Updated: June 1, 2020

"The word cancer is personal and holds a powerful weight to it.  So many people feel the weight of cancer either directly or know someone who has been impacted by cancer.   We invite you to join us in our effort to Turn Cancer Upside Down™ and change the heavy weight that cancer brings through this celebration of strength, fight, and grace.   No involvement is too small, whether it be registering to raise funds and skate in the exhibition, attend the celebration events, or donating any amount.

Let’s unite as a community both on and off the ice and show how strong we can be together to Turn Cancer Upside Down™!

- Co-Hosts Jamie Baringer and Laura Fischer

Support a Participant by Donating
By donating to a Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer™ participant's fundraising goal, you are not only supporting them but providing crucial research funding for the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.  Your donation today will help us continue to stand in the gap and advance survivorship and quality of life for cancer patients everywhere.

A portion of the net proceeds from this event will stay local and support the local Charity of Choice, the Mercy Health Foundation of Greater Toledo.

Mercy Health – Toledo is part of Bon Secours Mercy Health, one of the top 20 health systems in the United States, one of the largest employers in Ohio and part of the top performing quartile of Catholic health systems for lowest cost per case for patient care. Locally, Mercy Health - Toledo serves 20 counties in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, providing comprehensive primary and critical care services to residents as well as a robust physician group, Mercy Health Physicians, Life Flight critical air transport services and Mercy College of Ohio.

Because of the great community support and participation in Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer™ Bowling Green, Ohio, the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation is combining our 2019 and 2020 gifts to benefit Mercy Health Foundation and their purchase of a new 64-slice Digital PET/CT Scanner.  This PET/CT Scanner will be the first of its kind in the region, providing physicians more tools to detect and diagnosis small cancerous tumors when the chance of cure or local control is greater with lower radiation exposure. Patients are able to spend less time in the scanner to optimize image quality. The scanner is a $3.2 million cutting edge technology with an anticipated opening in April 2020.
